Using Scripture to Worship God
A great way to study the bible is by making a list of God's attributes:
Make a list of God's names and/or attributes that you have learned in your Bible study, i.e.: mercy, eternal, omnipotent, Savior, etc.
The Psalms are a wonderful place in Scripture to learn words that describe God. When you learn another, add it to your list.
Make a list of verses for each of the names/attributes. As you read a passage of Scripture, ask the Holy Spirit to show you an attribute of God in that passage.
Read the verses of that attribute back to God; then pray them back to Him in your own words. Your worship will be based on Scripture and thus be the truth about God, not just who you think He is or wish He was.
Meditate on God's dealing with you relating to that specific attribute. The Holy Spirit will lead you to express your own words of worship to Him regarding that attribute. Your worship will be in Spirit as well as in truth.
Keep a journal of how you should respond to God in view of this attribute? Ask God to help you. If you do this for 30 consecutive days, you may be pleasantly surprised to find you have developed a new habit.
